NORTH RIVER — Both the Shenendehowa High School boys and girls nordic ski racing squads emerged Tuesday with team victories at the Johnsburg Invitational.
The Shenendehowa boys scored 12 points, easily outpacing second-place Scotia-Glenville’s 29, while Queensbury finished in third place with 36 points. The Shenendehowa girls compiled 14 points to edge Queensbury’s 16.
In the boys’ 6K race, Shenendehowa’s Aaron Huneck took top individual honors, winning the competition with a time of 20 minutes, 52 seconds. Teammate Owen Putman finished in third place with a time of 21 minutes, 33 seconds; David Benson was eighth in 23 minutes, 50 seconds; Chandler Moore was ninth in 23 minutes, 55 seconds; and, Nathaniel Kinkaid was 31st in taking 28 minutes, 30 seconds to complete the course.
In the girls’ 3K race, Queensbury’s Tara Wynn won the individual race with a time of 11 minutes, 4 seconds, while a pair from Shenendehowa finished in second and third places; Amy Duclos took 11 minutes, 37 seconds to finish as the runner-up, while teammate Sarah Duclos was third in 11 minutes, 43 seconds.
Also for Shenendehowa, Katie Benson finished in ninth place with a time of 14 minutes, 29 seconds, while Ellie Trader was 12th in 14 minutes, 52 seconds.
