Girls Basketball: Shen beats ranked club

AMSTERDAM — Taking on one of the state’s top Class A girls basketball teams Saturday in the Amsterdam Holiday College Showcase, the Shenendehowa Plainsmen answered the bell.

Shenendehowa was a 71-53 winner against Bishop Kearney, as junior guard Carly Boland and sophomore forward Sydney Brown led the way. Boland finished with 23 points and 12 rebounds for the Plainsmen, while Brown compiled 19 points and 12 rebounds.  Also, Sydney Quinn collected 11 points and eight steals for Shenendehowa.

The Plainsmen (8-0) were ahead three points at halftime and used a 22-11 advantage in the fourth quarter to provide themselves with a comfortable winning margin.

Kharysma Bryant led Bishop Kearney with 23 points.

Shenendehowa plays again today in the showcase against St. Laurent, a club from Montreal.
