The Shenendehowa boys basketball team has not played a game since March 27, but junior guard Kevin Huerter keeps compiling awards, anyway.

The latest for Huerter came Thursday when he was named a second-team all-state selection at the Class AA level by the New York State Sportswriters Association.

Huerter’s honor comes after a season in which he led the Plainsmen to their first state championship since 1987. Shenendehowa started its season with 25 consecutive wins before falling in the semifinals of the Federation Tournament of Champions to close its season.

Previously, Huerter had earned MVP honors from the Suburban Council, the Section II Class AA tournament, and the Class AA state championships.

Also for Shenendehowa, senior guard Thomas Huerter was a seventh-team selection and senior forward Brandon Fischer was an honorable mention.
