CLIFTON PARK — Here are five things to know for today about Shenendehowa athletics:

Four teams met up in a Suburban Council meet Tuesday afternoon, and the Shenendehowa boys track and field team defended its home turf with a sweep. The Plainsmen topped Colonie, Mohonasen, and Shaker to improved to 8-1, with strong days coming from a host of athletes. Notably, Shawn Bleichert won three events (110-meter hurdles, 400-meter hurdles, 200-meter dash).

Rachael Picchi scored seven times Tuesday to lead the Shenendehowa girls lacrosse team to a 19-4 win against Ballston Spa. Also producing big days for the Plainsmen were Emily DiNallo and Ava Katinas, who each had three goals.

The Shenendehowa boys lacrosse team was dominant Tuesday, too, topping Ballston Spa, 12-4. In the victory, goalie Anthony Tebbano had 13 saves, while Peter Russo had three goals, and Liam Cannon and Dakota Rainville each scored twice.

Also topping Ballston Spa Tuesday was the Shenendehowa boys tennis team. The squad was a 7-2 winner.

Chance to bounce back today for the Shenendehowa softball team after losing Monday to Columbia. Today, the Plainsmen bring their big bats to Ballston Spa for another Suburban Council contest.
