CLIFTON PARK &HALFMOON— On Monday, November 2, Two Towns-One Book: Clifton Park & Halfmoon Read—a program of the Friends of the Library, which is a non-profit organization that supports the Clifton Park-Halfmoon Public Library—announced the winning book for 2016, Andy Weir’s “The Martian.”
The 2011 science fiction novel focuses on an American astronaut—Mark Watney—who becomes stranded on Mars. You’ve probably heard of the film adaptation, which was released in October starring Matt Damon.
The search for this year’s selection began back in the middle of May when nominations were pitched. Then over the summer, the Book Selection Committee narrowed it down to five finalists. From September 11 to October 31, many votes were cast, and after being counted there was one victor left standing (sounds a but like The Hunger Games).
It’s time for another page-turning journey to begin.
