CLIFTON PARK — Nigro Companies recently began overhauling the existing Clifton Park Plaza behind the Cumberland Farms on Route 146 in Clifton Park.
The current Price Chopper building, which houses five tenants in addition to Price Chopper and Rite Aid, is part of a 293,266 square foot structure. When the project is complete Price Chopper will be placed by itself in a 52,376-square-foot building and renamed Market 32. Rite Aid will have its own 11,115-square-foot building. The five businesses currently located within the same building as Price Chopper will be moved across the lot into a new retail space shared with Trustco Bank. The new Trustco Bank will feature a drive-through and is expected to be about 2,000 square feet — it currently stands at 3,000 square feet. The retail space in the same building will take up about 8,000 square feet.
The structure currently under construction will eventually hold Trustco Bank and an additional 8,000 square feet of retail space.
Price Chopper and Rite Aid will remain open as long as possible.
Construction began in late February and is expected to continue until June 2017 according to Steven Powers of Nigro Companies. Melinda Acker of Clifton Park’s Planning Department said no new vendors are expected to move into the remodeled retail space. Powers confirmed the existing tenants located in the same structure as Price Chopper now will move across the lot to the new retail space once the project is complete.
The Planning Department indicated bike racks will be available at each building.
