Kevin Huerter picked up his third statewide Player of the Year honor Friday when the New York State Sportswriters Association announced its all-state teams for Class AA and Class A boys’ basketball.

The Shenendehowa senior was a second-team all-state selection last year before taking this year’s nod as the top player in Class AA. Previously, Huerter won both the Basketball Coaches Association of New York’s Mr. Basketball and the Gatorade State Boys Basketball Player of the Year awards for the 2015-16 season.

Huerter, who will play next season at the University of Maryland, led the Plainsmen to a state title in 2015 and to the state semifinals in 2016. For much of the second half of this past season, Shenendehowa was ranked No. 1 in the state.

Hameir Wright, a junior at Albany Academy, shared the Class A Player of the Year award with Canisius’ Stafford Truehart. Albany Academy won a Class A federation championship this past season.

From Section II at the Class AA level, Guilderland senior Andrew Sischo was a fourth-team selection, Green Tech senior Dasier Lukes was a 10th-team pick, CBA junior Mike Wynn made the 12th team and Colonie sophomore Isaiah Moll was selected to the 13th team.

Class AA honorable mentions went to Shenendehowa junior Luke Hicks, Niskayuna senior duo Andrew Evans and Tommy Kelly, and CBA sophomore Sloan Seymour.

From Section II at the Class A level, Troy sophomore Daniel Buie was a fourth-team selection, Albany Academy senior Sal Arena was selected to the 10th team, Amsterdam senior Kory Bergh made the 11th team and Troy senior Jack McLaren made the 13th team.

Earning Class A honorable mentions were South Glens Falls senior Matt Higgins, Hudson Falls junior Cam Jett, Lansingburgh junior Davonte Jones, Averill Park senior Isaiah Moak, Albany Academy junior Will Bennett and Queensbury senior Brett Rodriguez.
