Season ends for Shenendehowa boys’ lacrosse team

Days after its upset win in the Section II Class A boys’ lacrosse title game, Shenendehowa fell 8-7 in the first round of the state playoffs to Section I’s Lakeland/Panas in Yorktown.

The Plainsmen received a pair of goals Wednesday from both senior Owen Putman and sophomore Matt Stucchi, while junior goalie Anthony Tebbano made 13 saves.

For Lakeland/Panas, Sean Makar had four goals and two assists.

The Plainsmen never led in their season-ending June 1 loss, but always was within at least two scores. Down 5-4 at halftime, Shenendehowa was last tied late in the third quarter.

Shenendehowa finished its season at 15-5. Its final win came against Niskayuna last Friday, a game in which the Plainsmen broke the Silver Warriors’ 81-game winning streak within Section II play.
