Stewart’s employee charged with falsifying records and petty larceny

CLIFTON PARK — A former Stewart’s Shop employee has been arrested on A man allegedly stole money from a Stewart’s Shop in Clifton Park, New York State Police said.

Michael A. Patell, 21, of Ridge Lane, Ballston Lake, is charged with first-degree falsifying business records and petit larceny.

State police said he charges were the result of an investigation into a Stewart’s Security report of theft of money from one of their stores in Clifton Park. Patell allegedly falsified cash register receipts in order to cover up the drawer shortage. Police said Patel stole less than $1,000 but could not disclose the exact amount.

Patell was arraigned in Clifton Park Court and released on his own recognizance to appear again on Sept. 26 at 4 p.m.
