Halfmoon woman with BAC four times legal limit causes crash

Halfmoon — A Halfmoon woman with a blood alcohol content over four times the legal limit caused a three car crash in Halfmoon Sunday evening, January 20.

 

Mercedes Matzen, 27, struck a vehicle from behind which then struck another vehicle Sunday evening, according to police.

 

One of the drivers sustained minor injuries from the crash, according to police. A breathalyzer test showed Matzen was driving with a blood alcohol content of .33 percent — over four times the legal limit.

 

Matzen was charged with aggravated drinking while intoxicated. She is scheduled to return to the Halfmoon Town Court at a later date.
