David A. Chank, 71, was charged with promoting a sexual performance by a child and possessing a sexual performance by a child, both felonies, following an investigation by the state police Computer Crimes Unit, troopers said.

Troopers executed a search warrant and detained Chank after his IP address was flagged for the downloads, said Trooper Mark Cepiel, a state police spokesman.

Chank was arraigned in Clifton Park Town Court and was released on $2,500 bail, troopers said. He is due back in court at 6 p.m. on Thursday.
