CLIFTON PARK —The Town of Clifton Park is seeking a director for the Senior Community Center.
The Senior Center serves a large base of Senior Citizen members, offering various programs, workshops and activities.
According to a job posting on the Clifton Park town website, “the successful candidate will require strong interpersonal skills, oversight of center employees, ability to use various computer programs, strong writing skills, implementation and creation of new programs, proficiency in producing a monthly newsletter and general administrative and clerical responsibilities. The director will report to the Town Supervisor and Town Board. The position requires coordination with center members, service providers, various town departments, partner governmental agencies and others.”
An associates degree in human services, recreational services, or related field and one year experience involving delivery of services to senior citizens or general human services are preferred. The salary is listed as $42,734 a year, and resumes must be received by June 12.
The town assumed operational control of the facility in December after an investigation prompted Shenendehowa Senior Citizens Inc. to transfer operation of the center to the town. After a few months, in March, state police arrested Sean P. Flaherty, the former executive director of the center, for stealing more than $50,000 from the center.
