HALFMOON — A healthcare services company will be shutting its local doors soon.

Cardinal Health, located at 4 Liebich Lane, will close on September 4, according to a noticed filed with the New York State Department of Labor. According to the notice, the plant closure is estimated to leave 37 employees, who are non-unionized, out of a job.

Cardinal Health, which is a Fortune 500 Company, supplies healthcare services and products to pharmacies, ambulatory surgery centers, clinical laboratories and physician offices both nationally and internationally. The company is headquartered in Dublin, Ohio and employs 40,000 people, according to the company website.

The Department of Labor filing lists the Halfmoon site as a distribution center. In New York, Cardinal Health has locations in Whitestone and Syracuse.

“We work continuously to optimize our distribution network and increase efficiencies in our operations. As a result of that ongoing analysis, we’ve made the decision to consolidate operations and will be closing facilities in Clifton Park and a few other locations outside New York. These were decisions that were made with a great deal of consideration, and we are committed to treating our employees with respect and dignity through the transition period,” said Cardinal Health spokesperson Courtney Tobin in a statement.
