CLIFTON PARK — The Shenendehowa Central School District is doing its part to aid those in Texas who have been affected by Hurricane Harvey.

The Shen PTA Council will be collecting donations for the Houston Independent School District. According to a post on Shen’s website, the Houston district is in need of new clothing, underwear, shoes, school supplies, and other basic hygiene items. All donations need to be collected by Wednesday, Sept. 6. Donations can be brought to the school or people may contact their respective PTA President or Jen Collazo at jcollazo@nycap.rr.com.

“The greatest gift we can give is charity…the sharing of our time and treasures. As you are keenly aware, the Houston area has been devastated by Hurricane Harvey. The schools are flooded and resources in communities are dwindling gravely as we speak,” Shen Superintendent Oliver Robinson said in a statement. “I encourage you provide support and assistance in any way that you can. There is no one way to do so. It could be as straightforward as starting a donation drive of school supplies, clothing, household goods and personal care items to donate to local communities in Texas.”
