CLIFTON PARK — The Clifton Park-Halfmoon Public Library will host an active shooter program and drill Monday.
The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office will lead a seminar, starting at 7 p.m., about best practices for dealing with an armed intruder in a public setting. The program is recommended for anyone 12 and older.
“As a public institution, we feel it is our duty to educate the public about what to do, should they ever find themselves in an active shooter situation,” said Jim Foster, the library’s assistant director of public service. “Our hope is that, with proper planning and preparation, we can help reduce the negative impact if such an incident occurs.”
The library will also be the scene of an active shooter drill, conducted by the sheriff’s office, starting at 1:30 p.m. Nov. 8. Signs will be posted and announcements will be made before the drill starts, giving patrons the opportunity to leave the building if they do not wish to take part.
Anyone who remains in the building during the drill will be required to participate.
