New Delhi | Punjab government has got a big relief from the Supreme Court. The National Green Tribunal (NGT) had imposed a fine of more than one thousand crore rupees on the Punjab government a few months ago, which has now been stayed by the apex court. Actually, NGT had imposed this fine on the Punjab government for not taking concrete steps on the management of old waste and sewerage discharge. A bench of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, Justice JB Pardiwala and Justice Manoj Mishra issued notice to the Center and Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) on the appeal of the state government against the order of NGT. Senior advocate Abhishek Sanghvi argued on behalf of the state government.
