Punjab: Youth dies due to drug overdose, case against 3 friends

Sangrur | A youth died of drug overdose in village Gaga. The relatives of the deceased allege that the deceased was killed by his three friends by giving him an overdose. In such a situation, the police have started investigation by registering a case against the accused three friends at Lehra police station. Rajveer Singh, a resident of village Gaga, has told in the police complaint that his maternal uncle’s son Gurpreet Singh had gone to meet friends on the evening of May 13 and did not return for a long time. When he called Gurpreet’s mobile, some unknown person picked up the phone and said that Gurpreet had fallen near Rajbahe. After this he reached the spot with Tae Balwinder Singh. Foam was coming out of Gurpreet’s mouth. He was admitted to a private hospital in Lehra where doctors seeing his condition as serious referred him to Sangrur where Gurpreet died. Later it was learned that Gurpreet was good friends with Jasambat Singh alias Gagi of the same village. On May 13, Jaswant called Gurpreet and invited him to Lehra. Where Jaswant brought drugs from Sukhbir Singh and Gagu and gave them to Gurpreet. Gurpreet was deliberately given an overdose of drugs after going to Rajwahe. He himself fled from the spot.
