Giving relief to the Punjab government, the Punjab and Haryana High Court has quashed the order of the single bench, under which the bench had canceled the recruitment of 1158 assistant professors and librarians in 2021. The division bench of Justice Suresh Thakur and Justice Sudipti Sharma of the High Court gave this verdict while accepting the appeal of the Punjab government and the selected candidates. A single bench of the High Court had canceled the recruitment of 1158 assistant professors and librarians in 2021. In this case, before the cancellation of recruitment by the single bench, the government had given appointment letters to 609 candidates, but only 135 were getting posting and salary. In the appeal on this order of the single bench, the division bench had issued a status quo order. Due to the order of the division bench to maintain status quo, only 135 people were working. 484 candidates were waiting for the station to be allotted. The Punjab government had also requested the court that there is a huge shortage of teachers in government colleges, hence permission should be given to allot stations to these remaining applicants.
