Sensex crosses 83 thousand for the first time, rises 91 points

On Tuesday, the Sensex closed above 83 thousand and Nifty above 25,400 for the first time. Although the Sensex rose by only 91 points, it reached a record level of 83,080. Nifty also closed at a new record level of 25,419, rising by 35 points. The market is expecting a cut in interest rates in the US on Wednesday. Earlier, stock markets around the world rose and fell in a limited range. Meanwhile, there was profit booking in small and medium stocks in the domestic market. The BSE midcap and smallcap index closed down by 0.08% and 0.13% respectively. Due to this, the total market cap of companies listed on BSE reached Rs 470.29 lakh crore, which was at a record level of Rs 468.72 lakh crore on September 13.
