Wimbledon’s expansion could make London a tennis hub

The proposal to build 39 new tennis courts and an 8,000-seat stadium in Wimbledon Park, famous as the venue for the world’s most prestigious tennis Grand Slam Wimbledon, has received support. Greater London Authority (GLA) officials have recommended that the proposal should be approved next Friday, 27 September. This will also enable the Wimbledon qualifying tournament to be held here. On the other hand, some other locals are against it. They believe that the construction of such a large stadium can harm the environment. The All England Tennis Club believes that increasing the number of new courts in the park and building a large stadium can help London gain recognition as a tennis hub.
