Two-Day Holiday Declared for Schools and Colleges in Rain-Hit Telangana District

Authorities have declared a two-day holiday for all schools and colleges in a rain-affected district of Telangana after continuous downpours disrupted normal life.

The decision was announced by the district administration on Wednesday, citing safety concerns for students and staff. Heavy rains over the past few days have led to waterlogging in several low-lying areas, damage to roads, and traffic disruptions, making commuting difficult.

Officials from the education department confirmed that both government and private educational institutions will remain closed for the next two days. “This precautionary measure has been taken to ensure the safety of children as weather conditions remain uncertain,” an official said.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast more moderate to heavy rainfall in isolated parts of Telangana, urging residents to remain cautious. Disaster response teams have also been kept on alert to handle any emergency situations.

Parents and local residents have welcomed the move, pointing out that school buses and private vehicles were finding it difficult to navigate flooded roads.

Authorities have advised the public to stay updated with weather alerts and avoid unnecessary travel until the situation improves.
