CLIFTON PARK — Sonic has announced that it will open a drive-in restaurant on Route 146 in the fall.

The 3,700-square-foot Sonic will be the third of its kind to be opened in the Capital Region and will be built in Town Plaza, 800 Route 146, Suite 105.

The national fast-food chain will bring an estimated 75 jobs to the area and represents a $1 million investment from the company, according to a press release from Sonic.

Sonic’s Latham location opened in July of 2015, followed by a Troy Sonic debut in February of 2017.

Clifton Park Town Supervisor Phil Barrett noted that DCG Development, a Clifton Park-based real estate company that owns a slew of properties in Saratoga County, including the Town Plaza, has played a large part in allowing both national chains and local businesses to co-exist in town.

“DCG Development is successfully repurposing existing office space, introducing new retail businesses into the Town Center area,” Barrett said. “By utilizing existing space, Clifton Park is creating a welcoming environment for both local retail and national chains like Sonic Drive-In to open and flourish.”

Sonic plans to conduct a job fair in coming weeks to staff the Clifton Park store.
