Apple’s recently unveiled iPhone 17 series has set a pricing precedent in India: for the first time, an iPhone starts at over ₹2 lakh. The 2TB variant of the iPhone 17 Pro Max, priced at ₹2,29,900, marks a new high in the Indian smartphone market.
The iPhone 17 lineup comprises four models: the standard iPhone 17, the ultra-thin iPhone Air, the premium iPhone 17 Pro, and the flagship iPhone 17 Pro Max. At the base of the range, the iPhone 17 begins at ₹82,900, reflecting Apple’s decision to remove the 128GB entry-level option and standardize storage at a minimum of 256GB.
The iPhone Air is positioned as the sleekest and most portable, starting at ₹1,19,900. Moving up the ladder, the iPhone 17 Pro kicks off at ₹1,34,900. Prices climb further for storage upgrades, with the Pro Max starting at ₹1,49,900 and topping out at ₹2,29,900 for the 2TB model.
While Indian prices may seem steep, they reflect Apple’s status as a premium brand—supported by advanced features and design. Comparatively, these prices are significantly higher than those in the U.S., owing largely to taxes, import duties, and local market dynamics, despite India being a manufacturing hub for iPhones.
Available storage options now begin at 256GB across all models, with some variants going up to 2TB. The iPhone Air stands out as Apple’s thinnest device, and Pro versions showcase enhanced capabilities and design refinements.
Indian consumers can expect pre-orders to begin on September 12, with availability starting from September 19. Trade-in offers, bank and e-commerce platform discounts, and EMI schemes may help soften the financial impact for buyers looking to step into Apple’s new flagship lineup.
