This year, Bollywood, which has been sluggish so far, is preparing for a big Diwali bang. The reason is the competition between two big franchise films. On November 1, Rohit Shetty-Ajay Devgan’s ‘Singham Again’ and Bhushan Kumar’s ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa-3’ starring Kartik Aaryan are coming together. The first two films of both the franchises have already rocked the box office.
On the battle for Diwali release, Atul Mohan of film trade magazine ‘Complete Cinema’ says, both the films have the potential to be blockbusters. The maximum cine business can be Rs. 70 crores in a day. If released solo, a film could easily earn 50-55 crores. This clash will divide the business. The history of the last 16 years of Diwali releases shows that many times both the films have been successful. But, the collection was less than expected. Ajay’s film can get an opening of Rs. 40-45 crores and Karthik’s film can get an opening of Rs. 22-25 crores. Major multiplex chain PVR Inox has given 60% i.e. 1,714 screens to Ajay’s film.
