With this win, Windies took a 1-0 lead in the series. The second match will be played in Dambulla on October 15. Batting first, the host team scored 179 runs for 7 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Kamindu Mendis (51) and captain Charith Aslanka (59) scored half centuries. Romario Shepherd took 2 wickets. In reply, Windies won by scoring 180/5 in 19.1 overs. Brandon King scored 63 and Evin Lewis scored 50 runs. King was the Player of the Match.
