Washington | People who go through adversity or trauma in childhood have a higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes later in life. This study, published in the journal Diabetologia, was being done to find out whether there is any connection between childhood conditions in people with diabetes. So far, lifestyle changes and obesity rates have been attributed to the rise in diabetes among youth and adolescents. This is worrying because the disease tends to be more aggressive before the age of forty. The researchers used data from the Danish Life Course Cohort Study. The data concerned children born in Denmark since 1 January 1980 who had a relatively difficult childhood.
